ABOUT US
"About us" is a big phrase for a team of one.
Hi, I'm The Field Budgeter, the writer, researcher, editor and chief icetea drinker behind MITWOFI. When this page says "we," it really means "me, with a laptop and a lot of ideas."
How I got the name
I worked in the humanitarian sector, handling programme coordination, budgeting, reporting and data management in the field. It was serious, meaningful work, and I learned a great deal from the people around me. It also came with its lighter moments, like the internet having moods and the generator napping at the worst possible time.
One day we had a report deadline, a power cut and exactly one working laptop. While others scrambled, I was checking my budget lines with a pen, a calculator and the confidence of someone who has never lost a receipt.
A colleague looked over and said, "You even budget in the field, don't you?" Another added, "Somebody call The Field Budgeter. They'll know where the money went."
The name stuck. Whenever the numbers didn't add up, someone would ask, "Where is The Field Budgeter?", usually while holding a receipt they couldn't explain. (The jokes are always on my spreadsheets, never on the work or the people it was for.)
What it taught me
I took the nickname as a compliment. In that work, every dollar has a purpose, so you learn fast to track everything, plan ahead and double-check your sums. I also learned budgeting the hard way, with shaky spreadsheets, mistakes and a lot of icetea, and came out with a deep respect for planning and doing your homework.
What MITWOFI is about
Today I bring those habits to MITWOFI. I break down personal finance, online income, entrepreneurship and business growth in plain language. My goal is to help you understand money, spot legitimate online opportunities (and dodge the shady ones) and make better-informed decisions.
That mindset is behind our motto: Think. Learn. Earn.
Think before you act. Learn how money and online opportunities really work. Then earn through effort, planning and patience.
One honest note
MITWOFI is an education site, not a financial advisory service. I share tips, ideas and lessons. I can't promise results, and anyone who does should make you suspicious.
Thanks for reading. Grab a coffee, look around and let's build something worthwhile together.
